
Past Events .. Nov 2006 to Jan 2007(By Ramesh Tadepalli)With the year 2006 coming to an end, the events galore in Sai Mandir picked up momentum. November 23rd, Thursday-Satya Sai Baba Birthday Celebrations and Thanks giving. This is an important day in temple calendar. The day witnessed Abhishekam to Baba and special Samoohika Satya Sai Baba Vratam was performed. Archanas were performed throughout the day followed by Bhajans in the evening. There was unprecedented gathering of devotees to celebrate Satya Sai Baba’s Birthday. November 30- Geeta Jayanthi: Celebrations commenced with Abhishekam in the morning followed by Krishnashtakam 11 times and Vishnusahasra Nama Parayanam. December 4th- Monday -Datta Jayanthi. Dattatreya is the Adi Purusha of Datta Parampara of which Shirdi Sai Baba, Satya Sai Baba Maharaj Manik Prabhu and Akkalkot Maharaj are considered to be his Avataras. Datta Jayanthi is an important day and started with Rudraabhishekam, Datta Homam, Samohika Datta Pooja. Bhajans were the important events of the day. December 25th. Christmas- Baba is a believer in religious harmony and tolerance. To mark this event and uphold his principles Bal Vikas performed various cultural programs, classical dances, group singing and displaying of Baba’s messages and many other variety programs. The auditorium was packed with devotees to witness this wonderful event. Sai Mandir was beautifully decorated for Christmas Celebrations. December 30th Saturday- Mukkoti Ekadasi. This is an important day in Hindu calendar. It is said that the Gates of Heaven will be open throughout the day for all and who ever prays to God Vishnu this day will be granted Swarga ( Heaven). Going to temple on this day is considered to be equal to visiting Lord Vishnu’s abode. Devotees thronged to witness Rudrabhishekam which was performed 11 times on this day to Baba. Daylong archanas and Satyanarayana Vratam was performed. December 31st-Sunday. To bid good bye to year 2006, day long poojas and archanas were held. Temple remained open throughout. Night celebrations started with bhajans in the evening followed by Sai Nama Smaranam. Midnight special aarathi was performed to Baba for welcoming the New Year 2007. Special prasadam was distributed and devotees chanted Sai Nama with continuous parayana of Sai Saccharithra till 7 am on January 1st 2007. January 1st 2007. Monday- New year celebrations started with Abhishekam to Baba and archanas all day long. Hundreds of devotees visited temple to take blessings of Baba on the first day of New Year. This unprecedented rush continued till next day. |
